I'm so thankful that I live in the country that I do with the freedoms that I'm able to enjoy. I loved talking to my kids this year about why we celebrate the 4th of July. Of course Holden was most interested in what the "army guys" do. And what better way to spend this day than with family and friends?
In the morning we watched the West Jordan parade with my mom, sister, and my friend Charity; all of them with kids of their own as well. It was hot and sticky and wonderful. Of course the kids liked getting the candy best, but Holden really seemed to enjoy the parade this year.
Then, in the evening we packed the boys in the wagon and walked over to Veteran's Memorial park to check out the carnival and wait for the fireworks (my favorite part of the holiday). The park was great. The temp was perfect and it wasn't too crazy. The carnival, however, was insane. Tim and I both felt overwhelmed and quickly bought the boys treats so we could retreat to our blanket without the crowds. Then we all snuggled up and gazed at the beautiful light show in the sky. Beckett was enthralled. But sadly, only for about 15 minutes. He has been sick and got tired of watching fairly quickly. We have since discovered he has bronchitis so considering that, he did awesome.
Holden took this little lovely of me. Both boys took turns taking a million pictures. I think about 4 turned out.
Tim and I were playing with the settings on my camera after the boys got glow swords from the carnival. Some of the pics turned out pretty cool.
I absolutely LOVE Beckett's face in this picture. He was so excited to watch the fireworks.
We did a few fireworks at our house after the big fireworks display. How stinkin' cute are my kids?
