Camping

We went on our first camping trip of the season this past weekend. We had a lot of fun. Camping is so much more enjoyable with a trailer! Holden loved playing outside all day especially in the dirt. And we all really enjoyed hanging out with the family. We did miss my brother, Aaron and his family, though. I forget how much I love making s'mores over the campfire and being able to spend some quality time with my husband and son.
On to the scary times. There was a little stream not far from our camp so most of us decided to go wade in it. Holden was having a blast and playing in the water when he decided to go out just a little further and slipped. He started going downstream being pulled by the current. My sister started to go after him and also slipped. So I jumped in the water and hurried as fast as I could to get to him. It was the absolute scariest moment of my life. Just thinking about what could have happened if I had been just a little slower or had not reacted as quickly terrifies me. Holden and I were both drenched and I have some serious bruises to show for my efforts, but Holden is fine. I think it upset me more than him.

Sentences

Holden is now speaking in sentences. It was quite a shock to me. I can't believe he can talk as well as he can, but he is certainly saying sentences now. The first one I noticed was "Please, Daddy, more water". And they just keep coming from there. So woo hoo for Holden!

Chicken Pox

Holden was exposed to chicken pox last week by his unsuspecting cousin and he now has them. He's been vaccinated so the case seems to be mild, but it's still chicken pox. He's a little more whiney and he keeps scratching at the few bites he has. I'm so thankful that he was vaccinated! Looking at pictures online of what it could look like freaks me out. I think the hardest thing is not being able to go anywhere for fear of exposing others. Hopefully we can keep him and mommy entertained at home for a while.

Zoo Day!

We decided to venture to Hogle Zoo today and it was lots of fun! I think we picked a nice day to go. Not too hot and not too many people at the zoo. Holden really enjoyed it. He really liked the elephants and the monkeys. Big surprise there. He also kept calling everything a cow. :) He seemed to enjoy the bears a lot this time too. They might have surpassed the other animals as the new favorite. Here are a few of the pictures we took.

He also LOVED the train ride. He kept asking for it over and over again and was not happy when we had to get off. Next year we will probably have to break down and buy a zoo pass.

Marriage Tag

How long have we been married? 7 years in October (Man, time flies!)
How old is Tim? He's 26. 27 in November
Who eats more? Easily Tim. He can eat a lot!
Who said "I love you" first? I don't remember for sure, but I think it was me.
Who is taller? Tim, but only by a couple of inches
Who sings better? We both suck!
Who is smarter? Of course I am! LOL. Tim is way more book smart than I am.
Who controls the T.V.? Me
Who's temper is worse? Tim! Hands down.
Who does the laundry? I do
Who does the dishes? Most of the time I do. Every once in a while Tim does a load.
Who sleeps on the right? Tim
Who cooks? Mostly Tim. I have a few things I make and I love baking, but Tim is a fantastic chef!
Who is more stubborn? We're both pretty stubborn, but probably Tim is more so.
Who admits they are wrong first? Always me
Whose parents do you see more? Probably mine. But we've been seeing more of Tim's dad lately.
Who has more siblings? I do.
Who has more friends? Me
Who wears the pants? What kind of question is this? We share the pants wearing :)
