Kiss Me Dirty Race

I ran the 5K Kiss Me Dirty race last Saturday and it was so fun! It's a 5K race through mud that is only for women. I will definitely be doing it again next year. Tim and I also plan on running the Dirty Dash next month. It's a similar race only it involves both men and women. Although I think it's a 10K. Ack! Can I do a 10K!?

The final result. After army crawling through mud puts, climbing a rope wall, and splashing mud everywhere we were all beyond filthy. Even my ears had mud in them. My knees and elbows are covered in scrapes and bruises from all the rocks that were in the mud I crawled through. But it was totally worth it.

You can see the cute pink color that the wings and tutus started as. And the filthy muddy color we ended up with.
There were photographers stationed throughout the race. The pictures from them should be up within the next few days. I will be sure to post those as well once they are in.

If any of you are interested in running the Dirty Dash with us let me know. We could definitely use more teammates.

Happy Independence Day!

I'm so thankful that I live in the country that I do with the freedoms that I'm able to enjoy. I loved talking to my kids this year about why we celebrate the 4th of July. Of course Holden was most interested in what the "army guys" do. And what better way to spend this day than with family and friends?

In the morning we watched the West Jordan parade with my mom, sister, and my friend Charity; all of them with kids of their own as well. It was hot and sticky and wonderful. Of course the kids liked getting the candy best, but Holden really seemed to enjoy the parade this year.

Then, in the evening we packed the boys in the wagon and walked over to Veteran's Memorial park to check out the carnival and wait for the fireworks (my favorite part of the holiday). The park was great. The temp was perfect and it wasn't too crazy. The carnival, however, was insane. Tim and I both felt overwhelmed and quickly bought the boys treats so we could retreat to our blanket without the crowds. Then we all snuggled up and gazed at the beautiful light show in the sky. Beckett was enthralled. But sadly, only for about 15 minutes. He has been sick and got tired of watching fairly quickly. We have since discovered he has bronchitis so considering that, he did awesome.

Holden took this little lovely of me. Both boys took turns taking a million pictures. I think about 4 turned out.

Tim and I were playing with the settings on my camera after the boys got glow swords from the carnival. Some of the pics turned out pretty cool.

I absolutely LOVE Beckett's face in this picture. He was so excited to watch the fireworks.

We did a few fireworks at our house after the big fireworks display. How stinkin' cute are my kids?

Holden's Last Day of Preschool

Today was Holden's last day of preschool. I was prepared to cry and feel nostalgic, but it didn't happen. He was happy and playing the whole time in class. And he is beyond excited to start Kindergarten. Plus, Beckett will be starting preschool in the Fall so I know we will still be visiting our favorite school two days every week. Guess that's all it takes to keep my tears at bay.

Holden also got his end of year report card today and got an excellent on every single thing. Every thing! I honestly didn't expect that. He is growing into such a smart, caring, thoughtful, handsome little man. I love him to pieces and couldn't be more proud.

I will try to post pictures and video of his preschool program soon.

Starting My Weight Loss Journey With Team #Cinchspiration

This is for all of you that don't read Mamas on a Dime (Dad) or didn't see this post.
I am one of 50 female bloggers chosen from over 270 entries to be part of the Shaklee Cinch Weight Loss Plan! I'm beyond excited to have a group of buddies cheering me on to help me reach my weight loss goal. Plus, I get a plan from Shaklee to help me achieve it even faster. I'm the kind of girl that needs a plan so I can move forward. What better way than Cinch?
I know many of you are wondering what it’s all about and if it really works. I wonder the same thing. But there are so many Shaklee success stories. It's inspiring and makes me want to try this program even more. Plus, the program is very simple (I totally need simple for something like this). It will help me keep muscle I have, burn fat I don’t need, and lose inches I don’t want. So where do you come in? I would love to have your help and support as over the next 6 months. I will blog, post pics, vlog, and everything else to let you know how it's going and how I'm doing on my weight loss journey. I have already set a goal for myself to do the Kiss Me Dirty in August and the  Dirty Dash in September of this year. I went for my first run in years today and I was less than impressed with my stamina. But I figure it's just the first step in my journey. I can do this! I CAN! I just need to keep telling myself that.

If any of you want to run either of the races with me I would love it! I will have a discount code for the Kiss Me Dirty soon. That one is only for women. But both will be fun and filthy.
